The NNPC/Seplat Joint Venture EMOIMEE (Host Community Development Trust) has commenced the verification exercise for beneficiaries of the 2026/2027 Mbo Scholarship Scheme, requiring all current awardees to validate their academic records and personal information in order to remain eligible for continued scholarship support.
According to the Trust, the verification exercise is a mandatory requirement for all scholarship beneficiaries and is intended to ensure that awards are maintained only for students who continue to meet the programme's eligibility criteria. Awardees are expected to upload the required documents through the designated scholarship verification portal within the stipulated verification period.
The Trust has outlined a comprehensive list of documents that every beneficiary must submit. These include a copy of the Scholarship Award Letter, a current CGPA or result printout obtained directly from the student's university portal, a recent passport photograph, an admission letter, a Certificate of Local Government of Origin, and a valid student identification card where available.
For students enrolled in institutions that do not provide an online result verification system, the Trust has introduced an alternative verification process. Such beneficiaries are required to obtain and upload a Letter of Results or CGPA Authentication issued by either the institution's Examinations Officer or the Head of Department. The letter must bear the official signature and institutional stamp of the issuing authority to be considered valid.
One of the most significant eligibility requirements announced for this year's verification exercise concerns students in their final year of study. The Trust has clarified that awardees who are currently in their final year, awaiting their final examinations, or who have completed all academic requirements for graduation are not eligible to participate in the verification exercise. Only beneficiaries who still have at least one full academic session remaining before graduation will qualify for continued participation in the scholarship scheme.
The Trust also emphasized the importance of integrity throughout the verification process. Awardees are solely responsible for ensuring that every document and piece of information submitted is accurate, authentic, and verifiable. Submission of false, misleading, altered, or fraudulent information may result in immediate disqualification from the scholarship programme, withdrawal of existing scholarship benefits, and any other disciplinary or legal measures deemed appropriate by the Trust.
Beneficiaries have therefore been advised to carefully review all documents before submission to avoid errors that could affect the outcome of the verification exercise.
The scholarship verification exercise reflects the EMOIMEE HCDT's commitment to accountability, transparency, and prudent management of educational support programmes established under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). Regular verification helps ensure that scholarship resources continue to reach eligible students from host communities who are actively pursuing their academic programmes.
Students are encouraged to complete the verification process as early as possible and avoid waiting until the deadline. Failure to comply with the stated guidelines or submit the required documentation may lead to suspension or withdrawal of scholarship benefits, as well as other disciplinary measures considered necessary by the Trust.
The scholarship scheme remains one of the flagship educational interventions of the NNPC/Seplat JV EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust, providing financial support to students from Mbo host communities and contributing to the development of human capital across the area. Through periodic verification exercises such as this, the Trust seeks to preserve the credibility, fairness, and sustainability of the programme for both current and future beneficiaries.
